High Throughput analysis of cancer cells for therapy evaluation by microfluidic platforms integrating plasmonic nanodevices

The project's objective is to develop tools to pave the way for personalized therapy in the context of cancer. More specifically we are planning to design and build a device that allows "high-throughput (HT) analysis of cancer cell samples and their response to different treatments. The platforms will allow culturing of cells in complex and dynamic environments that mimick the conditions of the human body. The system will be coupled with an on board plasmonic nanodevices for detection of single molecules for online monitoring of cell deaths and oxidative damage biomarkers. In summary the technical development steps include the implementation of: - microfluidic devices to treat biological samples; - culturing microchambers for cells with a high degree of parallelization; -nano-plasmonic devices for analysis of individual bio molecules.
